As I long back at all the posts A and I have written in the past year, lots of questions come to my mind. I realized that I did tackle a few topics about Kuwait, but not much..however.. this one I need to pour my heart out as each day we see the setbacks, the failures, the corruption and all the negativity that people are carrying around. At this rate there will not be a Kuwait in 10 years time and I’m not kidding.
Look at the infrastructure..Look at our ministries…Look at our government….look at the people in high places… what are they doing? Why is it that all those young outgoing Kuwaities that are trying to make a difference face so many set backs? Why is it that I can’t look at my daughters’ eyes and tell her it’s not worth your effort, the corruption so deeply penetrated that it’s not a joke.
I want to tell all the young Kuwaities that are trying to make a difference not to give up, but it’s so difficult. Why do people only care about stealing and making enough money to secure their future, what about the country they are living in? Why don’t have we have better planning, organizations, and restructuring? Why do we have so-called leaders and heads of office that grab on to their seats till the day they die?
Kuwait is in desperate need of new blood, young generation that cares about this country..
WHY DOESNT ANYONE CARE ABOUT KUWAIT?????
Today I had an appointment at 11 am to meet with a nutritionist. The place I went to is doing a lot of advertising about a 21 day detox. So I said let me give it a try.
The sad thing about all the diet centers in Kuwait is they are business oriented, meaning if you are to ask the nutritionist or expect her/him to go out of their way they won’t. (the Kuwaiti nutritionist that I keep following on Instagram as I see those spend a lot of time and effort to help others, unlike the center I went to today)
I told her I was plant-based and that threw her off. She thought that even meant off Legumes. And it was as if I had to fill her in about it, which I really didn’t bother. When it came to my weight I said I don’t want you to weigh me, but you can take my measurements, of which she said I have to decide how many calories I need to allocate. I think she should’ve come with options as the reason being is because it puts me down and I end up eating more.
I left her office with the menu in my hands as I told her I need to think about it. (the minute I got home, the menu went where it belongs.. garbage.) I never learn , and always say maybe this one is different. I would rate it as very commercial, nutritionist is not up to date at all, and is so programmed to go through the whole process, its like dealing with a machine.
I am a very interesting case to deal with .. I know what I should do and what to eat to feel better and get healthier yet I don’t. The good news is that it gave me motivation to work out and will take care of my eating habits, as I think I’m the only overweight plant-based advocate at the moment and I must change that. After all one must practice what they preach.

When I joined my new job back in Jan, 2013 I was approached by one of the employees and he asked me where I stand in terms of allowing to give a certain percentage from sales invoice to an insider as a token of appreciation since he helped to land the deal.
I informed him I never approve such things as I consider them as a bribe. But as someone who just joined the company if this is what the company policy has been then keep doing it. WHAT????? Yep.. I did say that… and that night I couldn’t sleep. I wanted to wake up at 5 am and run to work to inform the employee that as someone with the authority to stop such deals I will stop it and the company will no longer be engaged in such matters.
Unfortunately, it was too late. He said I have already passed on that our company approved the matter. I made it clear not to come to me again for such matters.
8 months later the employee reminds me of the deal and that I have to approve the 10% as in paying that person. Sadly I did. It took me two days to be able to sign the check. I will not dwell on my feelings or what impact this has had on me. But its back to the same old topic.. why is corruption and bribery so widespread in Kuwait that nothing gets done without some form of corruption. What happened to getting your salary at the end of the month and working HARD for it?
I wish we could make a difference, but if you stand against such deals people will go around you and find someone else that will approve it and pass it on.
